Galway Cycle 2012 Training Plan
The Galway Cycle 2012 training plan is now live!
Training starts on the 7th of January, so dust off your bikes, put on your socks, and get on those saddles. It is vital for all our safety that everyone has experience in cycling in a group. You will need to train if you want to get to Galway in March, and our dedicated training team are the guys to get you there! This is where all the craic starts - so if you want to meet your fellow Galway Cyclists, get out there there and join in the fun. :) Also, as usual there will be a couple of Ladies only cycle training sessions. They are running on the 14th and 29th of January, (Guys wearing wigs will not pass as ladies..) so don't try.
Weekend training cycles depart from the old campus gates at 10 am on both Saturday and Sunday mornings. We recommend that you attend one cycle per week. But if you have time, arrive to both to build your power legs! Contact Conor (0878235822 or training@galwaycycle.ie) for all your weekend training needs.
Weekday training cycles depart from the college at 1pm on Wednesday afternoons. These will broadly follow the distances outlined in the training plan below. Phone Ken (0863532380) for all of your midweek training needs.
There are four mandatory cycles marked in the plan. All cyclists MUST attend one mandatory training cycle in February and one mandatory cycle in March. Training cycles will build towards an average speed of approximately 25 kmph for the cycles at the end of March.

The "Ladies only" cycle is an extra add-on for ladies who want to try out cycling without having to look at all those lads in lycra :) .
