Book Sales and Bag Packs
We have two upcoming fundraising events that need your support!
Booksale
Firstly, our annual booksale is happening in the Arts Block, North Campus, NUIM on 10th March (Wednesday) from approximately 9am - 3pm. All book donations are welcome - thanks to those who have contributed so far! They can be dropped over to Margaret on the morning of the sale or alternatively they can be dropped into the president's office on campus, 1.8 LaraghBryan House (formally St. Anne's) NUIM. Please come down and have a mozy about on Wednesday!
Bag Pack
Secondly, we are having a second bag pack in Tesco's Maynooth this weekend. The galway cyclers will be manning the tills on FRIDAY 12th March (4pm-9pm) and SATURDAY 13st March 10am-10pm). We urgently need volunteers for these events! Thanks to everyone who has volunteered to help so far! So, if you are available at ANY time during the weekend, please email fundraising@galwaycycle.ie and let us know when. Alternatively, there is a form at http://www.galwaycycle.ie/volunteer-form where people can submit their names to volunteer and help us at this and future events. Cyclists, if possible, show the face after the cycle on the Saturday also. :)
Keep up the training and collecting - only 16 days left!!!
Mandatory Cycles Approaching
The mandatory cycles for the Galway Cycle are scheduled for this weekend - 13th/14th March!
It is important that all cyclists participants in Galway cycle 2010 attend one of the cycles this weekend.
The cycles depart at 10am from the old campus gates in Maynooth village. Don't forget your helmet, loads of food, drinks, and appropriate clothes for the weather on the day!
You'll look like this bunch in no time!!

Clash Of The Balls, March 4th, NUIM
Although the title of the contest sounds slightly painful from male perceptive, a big thank you to both NUIM Rugby Club and Water Polo players for organizing this challenge series. The NUIM teams will first compete in a game of rugby, and then follow this with a game of water polo!
Fans welcome to cheer and jeer...depending on who you support!
6pm NUIM Astro-Turf & 6.45pm NUIM Swimming Pool
Who knows, we may have a new sport in the making here...Rugby Polo perhaps???
Successful weekend and Registration Extended
The first ever Galway Cycle tractor hosted at the weekend! The Donadea community and visitors from far and wide participated to make this event an outstanding success! Over 70 vehicles took part in the Tractor run, the atmosphere was fun and friendly, and a huge sum of money was raised for the NBCRI. Even the training cyclists made an appearance. A sincere thank you to all those involved and all of those who took the time to come and see the tractors and join in the craic. Photos from the event are being uploaded to the album page today.

Only four weeks remain before the cycle weekend! Registration for the cycle has been extended until the 7th of March, so if you have not yet registered, make sure to do so now at this link. Registration by cash deposit will finish on Wednesday, and so you will need access to a credit card after that date.
Cash deposits will be collected this week on Monday 1st March 1pm-2pm and Wednesday 3rd March at 12pm - 1pm in the Art's block on Campus! If you have registered for the cycle but not yet paid your deposit, you must make your way to one of these stands!
Hope the collection of sponsorship money is going well! :)
Galway Cycle Tractor Run 28th Feb 2010
The Galway Cycle are proud to announce that they are holding the first ever Galway Cycle TRACTOR RUN!
What is a Tractor Run?
A tractor run is essentially a community day out in many parts of rural Ireland. In the case of the Donadea Tractor Run people turn up in their tractors ( and occasionally in vintage cars and Honda 50's) at St. Kevin's GAA in Staplestown, Donadea on the 28th of February at 10.30am. It costs €20 per tractor and once everyone is registered a convoy of tractors hits the road (sometimes up to 50 tractors).
They will be lead by a safety jeep around Donadea. It will also be an opportunity for the tractors to drive through Donadea Forest which isn't normally permitted. Once the Tractor Run is over everyone is lead back to the GAA where refreshments, pints and music are on the agenda for the evening.

That's about it! So gather around your friends, and come on out for the craic and banter in Donadea on the 28th. See you there!
Bag Packing in Dunnes this weekend!
The galway cyclists and collectors are going bag pakcing in Dunnes, Maynooth this weekend!
They have kindly given us 3 days of bag packing so it promises to be a great opportunity to raise a lot of money for the Galway Cycle and NBCRI! The 3 days are this Friday (12th Feb), Saturday (13th Feb) & Sunday (14th Feb). We need as many people as possible to come down and help us man all the checkouts so we can get as much money as possible.
It'll be a great opportunity to get to meet more people involved in the cycle. We'd especially like to see any people who are thinking of coming along on the cycle as collectors.
If you are free any of these days at any time and would like to help please email: fundraising@galwaycycle.ie or enter your details on the volunteer form!
We are also going to be doing bag packing in Tescos on the 12th and 13th of March so keep an eye out for more information about that too. Thanks!
